Tongue
The best position for a tongue piercing is centrally about 1" or so from the tip. This reduces the risk of nerve and blood vessel damage. Please be aware that not all tongues can be pierced. If there is a central blood vessel or the two main vessels cross over or if the web of skin underneath the tongue is so large that this prevents the prospective piercee from sticking it out far enough.
Tongues swell considerably after piercing and a large Barbell 20 - 22mm length is necessary to accommodate this. Jewellery can usually be downsized 2-3 weeks after the initial piercing.

Lip / Labret
Lip piercing can be located to individual taste, anywhere around the mouth on the top or lower lip. Generally the piercing is placed beyond the lip line. Jewellery is usually a BCR or a Labret Stud which will need to be downsized once the initial swelling has subsided.
Healing time approx. 6 - 12 weeks.
