The nipple piercing is located at the base of the nipple if they are well developed (female nipples) and should not go into the Areola (the pigmented area around the nipple).

As male nipples are usually less well developed it is sometimes necessary to locate the piercing slightly into the areola in order to size the piercing correctly, usually at least 9mm apart. Jewellery is again either a BCR or Barbell.

Healing time varies greatly from 6 months to a year or more.
